Daniel Lupton - Instructor

Hi, I’m Daniel and I have been training with Shentie Martial Arts Academy since I was 13. I hold a Black Belt in Shentie Freestyle and I am also competent in Western Boxing, however my forte is kickboxing. I am currently training hard for competitions to compete under Shentie in external tournaments.

Due to the discipline, concentration and focus Shentie gave me, it assisted me in achieving top marks in my Degree and I am now a Primary School Teacher teaching Key Stage 2 – not bad for someone who was hyperactive as a child and could never sit still and/or concentrate’

I was always getting myself into mischief as a child and through my teenage years I found myself getting bored very easily and found it easy to be led into trouble. It didn’t help going to one of the worst schools in the area that was the first to have full cctv surveillance and its own police force. The possibility of bullying was always apparent and one day a friend of mine, who knew I had always been interested in Martial Arts, gave me a leaflet from Shentie, and I have never looked back.

I used to study and train at home previous to Shentie, however Shentie was exactly what I was looking for. I had always been dubious of many of the strict traditional Martial Arts and felt they had been stuck in the times; Shentie was a breath of fresh air that was always evolving and offering a full and complete system.

As a child I felt happy and content to be part of something, as football wasn’t really my thing, and training with Shentie kept me away from falling into the trap of drugs, which is still an increasing problem in our society today. The atmosphere was great with very welcoming and friendly people who have since become close friends. Although it may sound funny to an outsider, being part of Shentie is like being part of an extended family, and I’m sure everyone at Shentie would agree.

Master Lee, has become a very close friend. At a time a long time ago, when I didn’t really know ‘what I was doing’ or ‘where I was going’ Master Lee gave me the confidence I needed to make my own decisions, taught me to stand on my own two feet and taught me how to overcome many obstacles - I owe a great deal to him.
